Mario Schifano

On display, twenty works created by Mario Schifano between the seventies and the nineties, from private collections and already exhibited in important Italian and foreign exhibitions. Faithful to experimentation and painting (to the painting that won and that in the eighties returns bully with the Transavanguardia of which is precursor), Mario Schifano crosses the "Sixty-eight" of art opposing conceptualism to the overwhelming force of color, to the greyness of "poverty" the red of struggle and contestation, of the search for life outside the box and outside the walls. The attraction for opposites, in his research converge in a nomadism that overcomes the dialectic between figuration and abstraction, knowing how to collect contributions from both sides to indicate a direction less rigid and for this really modern; reason that still today makes his work more current than any other research of the second twentieth century, for the capacity affabulante with which he designed and described, with new words, all that surrounds us and that has returned to the spectrum of light of the artist over a lifetime, concentrating, in the spaces of the work, anxieties, fears and meanings of a century.

The exhibition will be open until 22 June, and then will be reopened from 8 September to 12 October with new appointments and with the presentation of the catalog.
