Frida Kahlo Experience
The exhibition event that reveals an intimate and private look at the best known and most loved artist in Mexico.
For the first time in Europe, a unique, exciting and revealing selection of photographs and letters referring to known and unpublished moments in the life of Frida Kahlo is shown to the public.
Alejandra López, who for ten years coordinated the registration of the collections, the realization of temporary exhibitions and the restoration activities of Frida's legacy, at Casa Azul, Frida Kahlo Museum in Mexico City, declares: “The exhibition is a visual selection of important moments in Frida Kahlo's life. It is very inspiring to appreciate the different phases of his life, revealing information about his personal care, the intimacy of friendly encounters, masterfully captured by famous photographers, as well as about iconic moments in the history of Mexico and the world, such as the reception in the port of Tampico of the political refugee León Trotsky, where Frida was present. " Alejandra López continues: "The selection of Ojos que no ven, corazón que no siente, which contains photographs never seen before, allows us to relate the closeness of Rosa Covarrubias to Frida, as well as showing unpublished images of Frida Kahlo in the mural that sculptor Isamu Noguchi made in Mexico City. It contains two photographs taken by Guillermo Kahlo after the death of Frida's mother and underlines the trust that the artist generated with the gallery owner Julien Levy, who made the artist's first solo exhibition possible ".
The exhibition presents the life of Frida Kahlo, characterized by a difficult physical condition and at the same time by a strong ability to react and resilience in the face of adversity. Frida was able to transform her immobility into opportunity and her suffering into an energy that made her immortal ... a true icon of the contemporary world.
The path investigates all the phases of the artist's life: childhood, followed by youth where he manifests his rebellion by dressing in men's clothes, the encounter with the love of his life - Diego Rivera - until his unfortunate death.
